Quality Control Tips for Agent Spreadsheet Shopping
Understanding QC Photos
Quality Control (QC) photos are your first line of defense against disappointment. When your agent receives an item from the Chinese seller, they photograph it from multiple angles and upload the images to your order page. These photos are your opportunity to approve or reject the item before it ships internationally.
Standard QC sets include 4-8 photos: front, back, sides, logo/brand details, interior tags, and sometimes packaging. Premium QC services (usually 2-3 USD extra) provide additional close-ups and measurement verification.
Learn to read lighting in QC photos. Warehouse lighting is often harsh and yellow-tinted, which can make colors appear different from how they'll look in natural light. Focus on construction details, stitching quality, and shape rather than exact color matching.
Red Flags to Watch For
Misaligned logos are the most common flaw. Center your attention on brand placement, spacing, and orientation. Even minor deviations (2-3mm) are noticeable when wearing the item. Request additional photos if alignment is unclear.
Stitching quality reveals construction tier. Straight, even stitches with consistent spacing indicate good manufacturing. Crooked lines, loose threads, or skipped stitches suggest lower quality. Check stress points like pocket corners and seam intersections.
Material accuracy is harder to judge from photos but not impossible. Leather should show natural grain variation rather than uniform plastic-like texture. Cotton fabrics should have visible weave patterns. When in doubt, request a fabric close-up.
Hardware quality is critical for bags, belts, and shoes. Zippers should glide smoothly, buckles should feel substantial, and metal pieces should have correct engravings. Blurry or shallow engravings are common budget-tier flaws.
